Information Regarding Hampden Deuber Pocket Watches

Hampden, a small watch company that would soon become Hampden Deuber, began creating pocket watches in 1876. In 1889, Hamden was bought by the Deuber Company, hence the new name. This company introduced the first 23 jewel movements in the United States. They also produced top quality watches, including railroad watches, until they went bankrupt in 1928.

After their bankruptcy, pretty much every last bit of the company's assets such as machinery and equipment were sold or given to the Russian government to help establish the First Moscow Watch Company, which later changed its name to Poljot. The Hampden name, however was not part of this Russian transaction. It was purchased by the Clinton Watch Company of Chicago, who still have a facility in the Virgin Islands under the name Hampden.

Since these watches haven't been produced since the 20's, you'll be hard-pressed to find one. If you're seeking Hampden Deuber pocket watches, the first place you should look is antique shops and stores that carry old jewelry. You can also look in your local newspaper or pennysaver to see if anyone has one they're trying to sell. If you can get a certificate of authenticity with the watch, all the better. That way, you'll know that you're investing in the real thing and not a very good replica.

If you're unable to find Hampden Deuber pocket watches in your local area, you may need to utilize the power of the Internet. There are a wide variety of specialty stores and antique shops that operate totally online. You can also find Hampden Deuber pocket watches on online auction sites like Ebay and Bidville. With a little searching and some comparison shopping, you can find the perfect pocket watch to suit your price range.

These antique pocket watches were designed like most pocket watches, with a clock on a chain that is attached to a belt loop and kept in a pocket. You can attach fobs to your pocket watch chain to add visual interest. Pocket watches can also be engraved with a name, initials, or even a personal message. These watches make excellent gifts for watch collectors and railroad enthusiasts alike.
